Folkestone 5 Furlongs

This chart shows horse racing results for horses aged 3 years or older only.
The results are plotted winning stall number against the number of runners.
The resultant chart shows the Draw Advantage Pattern produced by the winning stall numbers.

Results on good or better going are shown in black.
Results on good to soft or softer going are shown in red. 2009 results are shown as 9, and 2010 as 0.

*Please note as from 30th March 2011 Stall numbering on right handed courses was switched, so that the inside stall is always stall number 1. Therefore the data below although still valid should be reversed.

Conclusions

At first glance their doesn't appear to be much of a bias here. When the fields are quite small they tend to race as one group and their is no draw advantage. However with bigger fields they tend to split into 2 groups and the far rail is thought to be quicker than the stands side rail, which explains why in the bigger fields *low numbers are favoured. In small fields the stands side rail is definately the place to be as shown by the first two 5 furlong races of the year. In both occasions the horse that got out of the stalls quickest bagged the standside rail and made all.

*See note above.
