Conclusions

The 5 furlongs at Sandown is run on a separate uphill track in the middle of the course. It has long been said that *low numbers have a massive advantage, but the stats don't completely back this up. It seems to vary from meeting to meeting, and when it is soft it definately seems to be an advantage to be drawn *low. Although when their is a bias it is quite severe with over a quarter of the races won by the horse drawn *lowest and therefore on the far rail.
