DOWNPATRICK RACECOURSE

Downpatrick Racecourse, located one mile from the town of Downpatrick in County Down, is one of the two racecourses in Northern Ireland, the other being Down Royal. The first race meeting at Downpatrick was held in 1685.

Key Characteristics

Downpatrick is a narrow, right-handed track with a circuit of around eleven furlongs. This is not a track for a long-striding horse, given the numerous undulations and turns. There is a slight uphill finish.
