CARLISLE RACECOURSE

Horseracing in Carlisle dates back to at least the 16th Century. Nowadays they have both Flat and National Hunt racing. Carlisle racecourse is a very friendly place to visit and is particularly good place to take the family.

Key Characteristics

Carlisle is a pear shaped and very undulating mile and five furlongs. The home straight is severely uphill, and the races really take some getting, rather like at Towcester. Their are 9 fences per circuit however these are some of the easiest jumps in the country.
